Masala Pav Bhaji Recipe – Mumbai Delight – Video
Masala Pav Bhaji is a snack to hungry stomach. Spicy Mumbai style easy and quick tried and tested recipe. Fresh Pau made at home.
- 2 Number Tomato (Chopped )
- 1 Cup Cauliflower (Gobi)
- 3/4 Cup Peas (Matar)
- 1 Cup Carrot (Chopped Gajar)
- 3/2 Cup Bottle Gourd (Chopped Ghiya)
- 2 Number Green Chili
- 1 Medium size Green Bell Pepper (Capsicum – Chopped )
- 2 Cup Cabbage (Chopped )
- 1 Cup French Beans (Chopped )
- 2 Number Potato (Chopped )
- 2 Medium size Onion (Grated)
- 1 Tbsp Oil
- 1 Tbsp Butter (For frying Pav and garnishing Bhaji)
- 1 Tsp Red Chili Powder
- 1/4 Tsp Garam Masala
- 1/4 Tsp Black Salt
- 2 Tsp Coriander Powder
- 1 Tsp Mango Powder
- 1/4 Tsp Cumin powder (Roasted)
- 3/2 Tsp Salt
- 8 Number Pav (or Enough for your appetite.)

- We will start with boiling our vegetables in a pressure cooker.
- Add Potato, Carrot, Beans, Capsicum, Bottle-gourd, Cauliflower and Cabbage.
- Add 2 cup water and 1+1/2 tsp Salt.
- Close cooker lid and cook on high flame. Wait for 2 whistles.
- After 2 whistles, turn the stove on low flame and cook for 5 min. and then switch it off.
- Boil peas separately as we do not want to mash them with other vegetables.
- Take a pan, add 1 cup water and add peas. Boil them on full flame.
- Boil peas on high flame for 3 min. and then put it on low flame with lid for 5 min. If you are not using frozen peas.
- After 5 min. of boiling peas on low flame, switch off the stove.
- Keep it covered with lid to retain softness until we are ready with Bhaji Masala.
- Open the cooker and mash the boiled vegetables with spatula.
- Now lets make Bhaji Masala.
- Take a big pan, add oil and heat it on high flame.
- Once oil is hot, add onions and fry them until they turn golden brown.
- Once onion turns golden brown, add tomatoes and cook on high flame.
- Cut green chili into 4 pieces and add.
- Keep the stove on low flame. Now add the spices.
- Add Coriander powder, Mango powder, roasted Cumin seeds, Red Chili powder, Garam Masala and Black salt. Mix well.
- Cook it on medium flame until all tomatoes have softened.
- Now add boiled and mashed vegetables. Mix well.
- Add boiled Peas, mix well and cook it on low flame for 5 minute.
- After 5 min,. Bhaji is ready. Switch off the stove.
- Now roast the Pav to eat with Bhaji. Cut them into two pieces from middle.
- To roast the Pav: Take a pan, add butter and heat it. Add Pav pieces.
- Roast from both the sides. Keep a small piece of butter on top of each piece and flip.
- Pav are ready to serve when they turn golden brown from both sides.
- Masala Pav Bhaji is ready to serve. Enjoy!
