Cabbage Kofta Curry Recipe – Video

Cabbage Kofta Curry is a north Indian main course sabzi. Fried dumplings are added to liquid gravy and served with Naan, paratha or bread.

For making Kofta, we need:

  • 3/2 Cup Cabbage
  • 2 Tbsp Gram Flour (Besan)
  • 1 Number Green Chili (Chopped)
  • 2 Tsp Green Coriander Leaves (Cilantro)
  • 2 Cup Oil (For Cooking)
  • 1/4 Tsp Salt
  • 1/4 Tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Mango Powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/2 Tsp Coriander Powder

For making Kofta Curry, we need

  • 2 Tbsp Curd (Yogurt)
  • 3 Number Onion
  • 2 Number Tomato
  • 2 Tbsp Oil
  • 3 Cup Water
  • 1/2 Tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 Tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  1. First of all, finely grate Cabbage.
  2. Add Gram flour and coriander leaves to grated cabbage.
  3. Add Mango Powder, Coriander Powder, Red Chili Powder, Salt, Garam Masala and Green Chili. Mix well.
  4. Note: We do not need any water to make this cabbage mix. Cabbage have enough moisture to make this mixture.
  5. Kofta mixture is ready. Make small balls by rolling small portion using both hands.
  6. Take a frying pan, heat oil and add koftas for deep frying on low flame.
  7. Do not touch koftas with spatula until they are golden brown from one side else they will break.
  8. Flip koftas for frying from other side.
  9. Koftas are ready when they turn brown. Take them out and keep aside.
  10. For Gravy/Curry: Grind Onion and tomatoes separately in a grinder to make a paste.
  11. Take a pan, heat it and add oil on high flame.
  12. Once oil is hot, add cumin seeds. Add onion and cook until it turns golden brown in color.
  13. Once onion turns golden brown, add tomato paste. Mix well.
  14. Add Coriander Powder, Red Chili Powder, Turmeric, Cumin seeds, Salt and Garam masala. Mix well.
  15. Cook mixture for 2 min. and then add curd. Mix well and cook for another 2 min..
  16. Cook it on full flame and keep stirring so that mixture does not stick to the bottom of the pan. Add 3 cups of water and bring it a boil.
  17. Once boiling, Kofta curry is ready. Add koftas and cover the pan with a lid. Cook on low flame for 5 min.
  18. After 5 min., Cabbage kofta Curry would be ready to serve. Enjoy!!
