Plain Bread Pakora Recipe – Street Side Snack

Plain Bread Pakora is a street side snack pretty popular in north India. It is made with bread as main ingredient and can be ready in minutes if you have guests.

Plain Bread Pakora Recipe – Street Side Snack

  • 1 Cup Gram Flour (Besan)
  • 4 Number Bread Slice (White or Brown Bread)
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/3 tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 3 pinch Asafoetida (Heeng)
  • 3 pinch Garam Masala
  • 2 Cup Oil (For deep frying)
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  1. Ingredients for Besan Pakoda should be ready now.
  2. Take a pan or a container to make the Gram flour paste.Add Gram Flour, Salt, Red Chili powder, Cumin seeds, Heeng and Garam Masala.
  3. Add water and mix well.
  4. The paste should attain a dropping consistency as shown in the image.
  5. Take a frying pan. Add oil and heat it on high flame.
  6. By the mean time Oil heats up, you can cut the bread slices into two pieces (cutting from center will give you two rectangular pieces from 1 bread slice).
  7. Once oil is hot, dip the bread piece in the gram flour paste completely and drop it carefully (sliding along the frying pan walls) in hot oil.
  8. Let it fry until it turns golden brown from both sides. You should flip it once it attains golden brown color on one end.
  9. If you have enough space to fry couple of bread pieces in your frying pan, you can add more to speed up the process.
  10. Once it attains the golden brown color, take it out from frying pan.

Serve them with tomato ketchup or Coriander Chutney. Enjoy.
