Recipe Rating

10-12 People.
Preparation Time:
60 Min .
  1. Sieve maida, soda & Baking powder.
  2. Mix well and Keep aside for 2-3 min. Bubbles will appear.
  3. Add oil and then mix well. Mix curd & essence( Vanilla or any other of your choice).
  4. Add maida & mix well. To test the readiness of mixture; drop it in a container. The mixture should drop with consistency. If it appears to be extra thick, add a little more curd to lighten the thickness.
  5. Pour into a greased tin 7” * 4” & bake in a preheated oven at 210C for 10min. Then lower temp to 150C & bake for another 20-25min.(Total baking time 30-35min). Always pour the mixture in the greased tin from the corners.
  6. To test the readiness of cake, you can use a knife. Pierce knife in centre of cake. If knife comes out sticky, the cake is not yet ready. You need to bake it for another slot of 5-7 min. Repeat the same readiness check.
  7. If cake is ready, switch off the oven. Remove cake-tin from oven after 3 minute.
  8. The tin should be kept aside to cool down for about 5-7 Min. After this time, the cake is ready for icing(optional) or serving. Enjoy!!

Hi Guest, Yes, you can prepare cake in Pressure Cooker. Find below the steps for cooking in cooker: Grease the baking tin with oil and dust it by sprinkling maida (All Purpose Flour) over greased surface evenly. Note: Use baking tin of 6 inch in diameter, so that it can easily get into the pressure cooker. Pour the mixture into the greased baking tin. Note: Baking Tin should be made of Aluminum Heat the pressure cooker on high heat for 2 minutes. If baking tin comes into direct contact of the base of cooker, it can harm (over bake) the cake. So use cooker container which has big holes in it. You can put the baking tin on that container and then put it inside the pressure cooker. Now put the cake tin containing the cake batter, inside on cooker dish.( Do not put water inside the pressure cooker) Close the cooker lid and do not put the whistle on the lid. Lower the flame from high to low after 2 minutes. Let it cook for about 40 minutes, then switch off the gas stove. Do not open the lid immediately. After 10 minutes open the lid to check whether the cake is done. Put a knife/stick of metal or wood, to test whether cake is completely cooked. If the mixture will not stick on it that means your cake is done. Serve and enjoy with or without an icing. Happy Cooking!!! Maahi
